How do I look?
Design, my age old enemy. Every time I change my theme, I become infatuated with the new design, only to grow sick of it within weeks. Now, I’m starting to see that I might have to manufacture my own sort of collage image for the header, as there are no designs that give me everything I want.
You’re trying to tell me I can’t have my cake and eat it too?
Well that’s just not true. Anything is possible when you run the kitchen. I can have as many cakes as I want.
I’m talking high quality images, natural-light food photography, and terse recipes that get to the point. Longer opinion blogs littered with useful transmedia and shameless linking to other zero waste blogs- we’re a team, remember?
Visually, it’s important to me that the images don’t carry that trademark peppy vibe of most minimalist blogs. I intend to do everything I can to make the images appealing, obviously, but I don’t want to gloss over the reality of the fact that most of the beauty found in zero waste and food can be credited to their natural glow.
I also have to admit, I like the darker color scheme because it gives off a raw vibe (in my head). I’m not trying to sugar coat zero waste living, and while I am literally the definition of a hopeless lovebug, I’m not exactly sappy or bubbly, not at the core. I’m always ready to laugh, but I take everything seriously. I care immensely about the things I talk about, and for me, this lifestyle and these recipes are more than just something to browse through and take up as a pastime.
So ultimately, darker colors are supposed to communicate a level of realness and depth. Fingers crossed it works.
All the best,
The Dirt Mouth
